Political autonomy should be a priority in your engagement plans
I’ve stood in line at the food bank with Josiah in his car chair. I’ve cried behind closed doors trying to figure out how to stretch $13 across five days while on hold with Medicaid. And I’ve also stood at the State Capitol helping draft legislation to expand Medicaid or testifying late into the night when my son is being watched by a neighbor. Often, I am advocating for people like me who are not in the same room as me - many people understand that unique challenge. I have learned - it is all about building political autonomy for others who are not there with us.
